Program Description

Discover one of the most extraordinary natural attractions in the Valencia region with a visit to the San José Caves (Coves de Sant Josep). This unique experience takes you through Europe's longest navigable underground river, where spectacular rock formations and prehistoric art await beneath the surface.

Your journey begins with a coach transfer from Valencia to the village of Vall d'Uixó, home to the famous San José Caves. During the journey, your guide will introduce you to the history of this remarkable site and explain the fascinating cave system, which extends for approximately 3 kilometres.

The adventure starts with a boat ride along the underground river, allowing you to admire impressive stalactites, stalagmites and magnificent limestone formations created by nature over thousands of years. As you glide through the caves, you will also discover prehistoric cave paintings, offering a glimpse into the lives of the region's earliest inhabitants.

After the boat ride, the tour continues on foot through the dry gallery, giving you the opportunity to explore more of the cave's remarkable geological features and underground chambers.

Before returning to Valencia, you will have approximately 30 minutes of free time to explore the surroundings, visit the nearby Iberian archaeological site, enjoy a coffee or browse the local souvenir shop.

This excursion is an excellent choice for nature lovers, history enthusiasts and anyone wishing to discover one of Spain's most fascinating underground landscapes.
