Program Description
Green valleys, laurel forests and mountain ridges overlooking the Atlantic Ocean - hiking through the Teno Massif is a wonderful opportunity to explore one of Tenerife's most picturesque regions. During the hike, you'll follow scenic mountain trails, enjoy panoramic views of neighbouring La Gomera and reach the famous village of Masca, nestled among steep mountain slopes.
Your adventure will begin in Las Portelas, a small rural settlement in the El Palmar Valley, within Teno Rural Park. Accompanied by a guide, you'll follow a trail through laurel forests, typical of the humid mountain regions of the Canary Islands. Surrounded by lush vegetation and views of the valley below, you'll experience the peaceful atmosphere of this part of Tenerife.
As you climb higher, the landscape will gradually change. After reaching the summit, you'll continue hiking along the ridges of the Teno Massif, where you'll enjoy sweeping views of mountain valleys, rocky slopes and the Atlantic Ocean. On clear days, you'll also be able to see La Gomera Island, located off Tenerife's western coast.
Your next stop will be Mirador de Cruz de Hilda, a viewpoint offering a spectacular panorama of Masca village. Its small houses nestled among steep cliffs and mountain peaks create one of Tenerife's most distinctive landscapes.
The final part of the tour involves a descent to Masca village, known for its traditional Canarian architecture and dramatic mountain setting. During your visit, you'll discover the history of this historic settlement and see how its buildings blend into the surrounding landscape. It's a place where traces of traditional mountain life in Tenerife can still be seen.
Hiking through the Teno Massif to Masca village is an excellent choice for outdoor enthusiasts looking to combine a mountain adventure with the discovery of the Canary Islands' nature, history and traditions.
